Services
Socially Responsible Investing (or “green” investing) is a way of investing to maximize possible returns while also maximizing “social good”. Generally, socially responsible investors tend to choose investments based on environmental care, consumer protection and human rights. Socially responsible investing has been growing rapidly since the mid 1990’s and now encompasses $2.71 trillion out of $25.1 trillion in the U.S. investment marketplace .
For many years Socially Responsible Investing was looked at as a “guarantee to underperform.” However, with the Green Movement over the past decade, this could begin to change as many new companies are entering into the alternative energy marketplace. In 2007, The Dow Jones Sustainability Index rose 10.4 percent, outperforming the Dow Jones Industrial index, which only rose by 6.4 percent.
