Ara Abrahamian began his career in the financial services industry in 2003 as a Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial. He soon earned the Advanced Financial Advisor title. With Ameriprise, Ara regularly advised other advisors in portfolio and asset management. With Divergent Planning, Ara oversees the firms asset management and portfolio programs.
Ara attended the University of Maryland, College Park where he earned a B.S. degree in Marketing and International Business. Ara holds various licenses and designations including the CRPC ® designation which enables him to act as a Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM and assist individuals outline their retirement goals and strategies to help make them achievable. He also holds the CMFC® designation and performs duties of a Chartered Mutual Fund CounselorSM which includes analyzing mutual fund managers, prospectuses and fees.
Ara is very passionate about his Armenian heritage and is willing to talk for hours about his several trips to Armenia. He is very active in the Armenian community and regularly attends Soorp Khatch Armenian Apostolic Church.
In his free time, Ara enjoys traveling and finds himself in places like Italy, Armenia, Los Angeles and New York. Thru his travels, Ara has become a big "foodie" and loves all cuisines and is always willing to try something new. Another of Ara's passions outside of work is basketball. You can often find him playing several times a week. While he has no chance at ever making it in the NBA, the dream will not fade! Ara’s latest adventure is CrossFit. He really enjoys the challenge and pushing himself to the max.

Matt Brock began his career in the financial services industry in 2003 as a Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial. He soon earned the Advanced Financial Advisor title. Matt was part of Ameriprise’s “Teaming” pilot program which encouraged advisors to work with other advisors in order to provide clients with the best level of service. In 2010 Matt, along with his business partner left Ameriprise to start their own independent financial planning firm. With Divergent Planning, Matt oversees operations, business development and directs financial planning systems.
Matt was born and raised in Southern Virginia and attended Hampden Sydney College in Virginia where he earned a degree in Economics and Mathematics. He now resides in Maryland with his wife, Natalie and Chihuahua, Peanut. He holds various licenses and designations including the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards’ CFP® certification making him a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner.
Matt is an avid golfer and CrossFitter and loves trying new sports. He loves to read which would make most of his college friends laugh since he only began to read with regularity after graduation. Matt enjoys spending free time with his wife and family in the Outer Banks of North Carolina (where he was also married). During the Fall he spends alot of time watching college football. Luckily, his wife loves football also. Despite the recent history of the team, Matt remains a faithful Washington Redskins fan.
Matt is President of the Rotary Club of Potomac through June 2012, current co-chair of the MAM Charity Golf Classic, and a member of Financial Planning Association. He also co-founded "Matt vs Ara", a fundraising program with monthly athletic events.
